Auto technicians say the key to keeping vehicles running well tomorrow is
routine maintenance today. A recent survey by the Car Care Council found that
many car owners were stalling-
38% of cars had low or dirty engine oil
54% had low tire pressure
28% had inadequate cooling protection
19% needed new belts
16% had dirty air filters
10% had low or contaminated brake fluid
Leon’s has a trained staff and regular maintenance reminders to keep
your car running right, and keep you & your car from becoming a statistic.
Beyond
your quarterly service checkups, Leon’s recommends the following
more extensive maintenance packages at 30, 60, and 90 thousand miles.
30,000-mile Maintenance:
- Automatic Transmission Fluid- For maximum performance,
automatic transmission fluid should be changed every two years, or 24,000
miles. If you are approaching this milestone, check in with Leon’s for a Transmission
Fluid Flush
- Battery and Cables- We will check that your
battery is securely mounted and that connections are clean, tight, and corrosion
free. If the battery is three years old or more, it should be tested and
replaced if necessary.
- Brakes- We will check the brake system, including
linings, rotors, and drums
- Cabin Air Filter- This filter should be replaced
annually, or more often in areas with heavy airborne contamination. Check
with Leon’s to see if your filter needs to be replaced.
- Coolant- Leon’s will flush your coolant
reservoir and replace with a new mixture of 50/50 approved antifreeze and
distilled water. Coolant Flush and Maintenance.
- Engine Air Filter- Leon’s will check and
recommend replacement for any leaking, torn, water or oil soaked, dirty and
worn filters
- Fuel Filter- Leon’s will replace filters
if restricted or water contaminated. Filters will be replaced at every 30,
000-mile checkup for all cars with fuel injection.
- Steering and Suspension-
Leon’s will check
your shock absorbers, struts, and chassis parts, such as ball joints, tie
rod ends, and other related components. Replacements will be recommended
if any leaks, damage, or loose mounting hardware is found. Symptoms of worn
suspension include uneven tire wear and excessive bouncing after bumps. We
also offer differential services to check your tires’ individual rotation
speeds when cornering.
- Spark Plugs- Leon’s will check the wear
and condition of all spark plugs. Typically, spark plugs should be replaced
every 30 and 90 thousand miles.
60,000-mile Maintenance:
- Belts- Leon’s will check all V-belts and serpentine belts for looseness
and condition, and replace when cracked, frayed, glazed, or showing signs
of excessive wear. Not replacing a belt as required could cause breakdown
or serious engine damage.
- Battery and Cables- Leon’s will check that your battery is securely
mounted and that connections are clean, tight, and corrosion free. If the
battery is three years old or more, it should be tested and replaced if necessary.
